Hi wondering if anyone can help. My male swordtail has an anenome like growth at the side of his mouth. Didn't notice it when i bought him but the tank is a month old and fish only in it for 2 weeks, so I'm guessing it's not something from the tank.
I thought he was eating a bloodworm and had the end sticking out but it looks like its attached to his mouth, it is about 0.5mm in diameter, round with small whitish fronds just at the far end.
Can anyone give me a clue?
Thanks for any help

Is it greyish or whitish? Stringy, right? Might be Columnaris, a type of body fungus. If it is, you might wanna try some Maracyn by Mardel.

Definately sounds like a fungus to me. I would recommend using any fungus medication and using it quickly too. Bacterial infections (which is what most "fungus" are) spread quickly so the faster you medicate the better off the fish will be.
