I'm about 1 week into cycle of brand new tank I never had a tank before but from what I've herd, about poeple going to larger tanks I decided to start right off the bat with a 30 Gallon rectangular tank.

Anyways I decided after a week to put a Betta male into the tank

Got my levels checked at the local Fish store Today and they said that the amonia was not at zero but not bad my Ph level was a little high.

I will be doing a 1/4 water change tomorrow will that help at all. Is there anything else I can to to lower amonia to zero and PH levels to a reasonable amount.

Oh ya I'm also using a product called cycle it 's suppose to help create good bacteria.

I DO NOT PLAN ON PUTTING ANY OTHER FISH IN THE TANK TILL THE LEVELS ARE AT ZERO HOPEFULLY IN THE NEXT TWO TO THREE WEEKS.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

In my recent experience, Cycle didn't do Near as well as Bio-Spira. Cycle is also a fraction of the cost.. I'm still not sure what exactly the cycle is.. Bacteria? Can they live like that? The Bio-Spira is fresh and chilled bacteria I believe.. They advertise that you can add fish the next day so..
Wow is all I can say to this ---> http://www.hoerl.com/biospira.html
Interesting read.. I wanna get one of those biowheel thingies

And this one http://fishstoretn.com/bio_spira.html even goes into that Cycle stuff. So ii guess as long as you don't have Horrible water quality, this stuff is a viable option..
p.s. Isn't it amazing what Google can do for you :)
