Hey all,

I recently started up a 5 gal planted tank with a VT betta in it. I noticed I have some snail eggs and that took me back to the days when I tried my hand at keeping Dwarf Puffers. My question is, are puffers notorious fin nippers? I only had them in a 10gal way back when. I was just curious, because, if they are compatible, I would love to just put some snails in there as a clean up crew then the puffer could keep the numbers down on the snails. Thanks,

Parker

Definitely not compatible, sorry. Not quite sure on this, but I believe dwarf puffers should only be housed with other dwarf puffers, and even then it's risky because of their little attitudes. ;)

What kind of snails do you have? If they're apple snails, they lay their eggs around the water line, so you can just remove them when they're laid. :)

DP's need 3g per fish, can only be kept with other DP's and Oto's, and something else but I can't remember it at the moment.

:good: I used to love my little dp. He had little hiding places used to come and see me at the front of the tank and wiggle until I went to the bottom of garden to get him a water snail...scrunch scrunch it was gone then he used to go away until he was hungry again :shout:
I have had such an infestation with snails..ended up getting a new/old tank from local tip and throwing all the gravel away..tank is still on patio full of water snails :hyper:
