Newb Question

Hey all,

I recently started up a 5 gal planted tank with a VT betta in it. I noticed I have some snail eggs and that took me back to the days when I tried my hand at keeping Dwarf Puffers. My question is, are puffers notorious fin nippers? I only had them in a 10gal way back when. I was just curious, because, if they are compatible, I would love to just put some snails in there as a clean up crew then the puffer could keep the numbers down on the snails. Thanks,

Definitely not compatible, sorry. Not quite sure on this, but I believe dwarf puffers should only be housed with other dwarf puffers, and even then it's risky because of their little attitudes.

What kind of snails do you have? If they're apple snails, they lay their eggs around the water line, so you can just remove them when they're laid.

DP's need 3g per fish, can only be kept with other DP's and Oto's, and something else but I can't remember it at the moment.

I used to love my little dp. He had little hiding places used to come and see me at the front of the tank and wiggle until I went to the bottom of garden to get him a water snail...scrunch scrunch it was gone then he used to go away until he was hungry again
I have had such an infestation with snails..ended up getting a new/old tank from local tip and throwing all the gravel away..tank is still on patio full of water snails
