Hey from what you might think from the title this isnt a plee to help me choose oddball or new world, I just wondered if in a 5x2x2 or a 6x2x2 I could get a peacock eel, Jack dempsey and oscar or GT, maybe a few silver dollars, I didnt know where to post this and as I was going through oddball forums I decided to post it here because of the peacock eel..

Only a sadist would combine a spiny eel with cichlids as territorial as Jack Dempseys or Green Terrors! Don't do it!

The large spiny eels (e.g., M. armatus, M. favus, M. erythrotaenia) seem to do quite well with Oscars in large aquaria. As ever, your problem is feeding the spiny eel, so I'd get the eel settled and hand-feeding before adding anything competitive.

Macrognathus spp. are sociable (i.e., keep in groups!) and easily bullied, and are completely unsuitable to this kind of community.

Cheers, Neale

Hmm ok thanks I understand about the JD and GT as they have got a bad reputation for agression :p, but are there any other eels that would be compatible with them in a tank that size?

In a word, no.

And why do I get the tongue sticky-out thing? Is that nice or nasty?

Ofc its a nice jesture, I do apreciate your advice :good: , I think Ill reconsider the GT and JD then mate and because I really want some sort of eel for my tank.

Just to check mate, Fire eels need bigger then a 5x2x2 right?

Many Thanks

Depends on the size of the Fire Eel. But I'd certainly recommend a tank above 300 litres/75 US gallons. Filtration is important for these fish because they are quite sensitive to poor water quality.

Hmm the tank will be atleast 400 litres, Im in negoatiations with a man on ebay for a 6x2x2 which is about 160+ Gallons

Many Thanks
