Hello All.
Longtime fish-keeper, but new to this forum. I find that even after many years in the hobby, I still need much advice. When I started, 30ish years ago, it wasn't so complicated. You bought a tank and bubbler, threw in whatever fish caught your eye, and hoped for the best. Obviously, we now know that's bad practice, and often animal cruelty.
Anyway, we live on about 10 acres in the Midwestern U.S. We luckily have well water that comes from an aquifer that runs over 300 ft deep, so the water is uncontaminated, but very hard and pretty base, averaging a ph of 7.8.
As for tanks and water features, we have a 29g that we hope to turn into a live-bearer tank in hopes of breeding snacks for our oscars and bettas, a 3g betta tank, a 90g community tank, a 90g South American Cichlid tank, a 90g community tank, a 210g indoor water garden with oscars, bichirs, an eclipse cat, and red-eared sliders, a 6,500g outdoor koi and catfish pond, and several smaller outdoor garden ponds, all of which have fish of some type in them.
Thanks for reading
