:D I'm buying a tank from my son's teacher today, sight unseen! Call me an idiot, but, it's about a 30 gallon, complete setup, filter, gravel, decorations, and stand! $40!!! Woo-hoo! :kana:

The biggest problem is, where to put it? My house is pretty tiny, crowded with toys and junk. And how do all of you with multiple tanks work out the electric supply for them all? I'd like to put the new tank near the 2 I already have, but absolutely can not plug another thing on that circuit. (Once blew the breaker when the living room light burnt out) Hmm, I suppose I could run another outlet to the l.r.

Thanks for letting me share my good news! I don't think any of my friends/family can appreciate this, only fellow fish keepers! Any suggestions, advice, etc would be great!

Congrats on the deal! I have 2 tanks on the same wall in my room. I just use a surge, with battery back-up, so I can tell if anything goes wrong. I have never had a problem.
What kinds of fish are you planning to put in the tank?

I haven't thought about what to put in it, it's mainly for my pleco, so far. And, I imagine it will be home to some of the multitude of platies I'm accumulating. I haven't updated my signature, cause I'm waiting to see how many of the fry are going to make it. I don't plan to buy anymore fish for a while.

Congrats on your new tank, wish i were getting another ,i keep dropping hints to hubby so ya never know lol. ;)

Congratulations!

I don't have more than one tank going into an outlet but a surge protecter would make perhaps make it ok to do so. I am not sure about these things though.

I have 3 outlets in my room with 2 plugs each so thats 6 plugs altogether (from the wall). All together I have 18 things plugged into the 6 wall plugs through extension coords and surge protectors. The problem is I still want more tanks, after all I only have 2 and they're small! Guess I better study to be an electrician so I can wire my room for more fish tanks

In my room (organized by outlets):

-3 filters, 2 heat lights, one UV fourescent light, one desk lamp

-1 filter, 2 flourescent lights, heater

-3 heat lights, 2 UV flourescent lights, 1 filter, 2 humidifiers, one neon sign
and on the connected outlet
1 TV, one Nintendo, 4 heat lights, one filter, one UV flourescent light, a stereo, a guitar amplifier, a water bubbler decoration

-Lamp, massive 8 billion kajillion guitar amplifier

This worked well until i added the amplifier, the my entire room had to be re-wired :D

:D Update! I got the tank, and it's a 30 gallon, long. I absolutely love it!
I've solved the dilemna about where to put it, going to throw out the t.v.! (Just kidding), but I'll have to put it slightly away from the first two tanks.

I can't believe all the stuff that came with it: 3 different filters (of course, I don't know if they work yet), plants, rocks, air pump, undergravel filter, as well, sheesh, is this my lucky day!

I did have to go the my lfs and eye potential new inhabitants after all.

Going to start setting it up tonight!
