After running my 2 FW tanks for a while now i thought i would take the plunge and try marine.Last week i bought myself the Marine Conversion Kit for my 60l biorb after reading about it in PFK and have followed all the instructions to the letter.Everything seems fine in the Orb and yesterday i bought 3 kilos of live rock for it.
I intend to take things extra slowly with it and make sure everything runs smoothly.Today i noticed what i think is a bristleworm moving around the rock, but this is where im puzzled...The instructions in the kit tell me that i can add clean up crew in the 2nd week of the 12 week schedule they suggest, but not to begin feeding until week 3.
What im puzzled by is this..If the bristleworm eats waste food, what will it live on until week 3? And just what will the clean up crew clean when they go in?

I know these might seem like stupid questions, but like i said i dont intend to rush even if it means holding off on C U crew going in.

your tank will cycle and most likely produce diatom algae which is what the CUC will be there for, as for the bristleworm they are hardy little fellows and will have no problems surviving.

Sounds like your plan of taking it slowly would be a good one
FYI keep an eye on ammonia and nitrite levels once you have added all the LR your going to for now, once the levels get back to 0 it will be safe to add CUC, then when you add more LR just go slowly and only put a few kg at a time in and all should be ok.

:hyper: have fun :good:

also would have to say be very careful on stocking as with a 60l biorb it wont take much to overstock.
