Hello to all

New to this forum,but been in the hobby for around 4 years and on my 3 aquarium to date. currently running a 125l (33 gallon) tropical community tank of which I am trying to make low tech planted tank….. trying being the word. My work in progress as of this morning, excuse the rocks on wood.

my cardinals are one of my first fish they are getting on a bit. its a fluval u3 which I just put in prior to that pic (have 1 in already) if you put the filter so the Venturi is above the water it puts bubbles out top outlet. I need to lower it.

Sorry read that wrong, it’s a new filter in this morning after a tank overhaul

Did you keep the media from the old filter? While you do have some plants, most of them are slow growing so you'll need as many bacteria as possible - and there would have been a lot in the old filter media.

yeah new filter can cause a mini-cycle, which can damage your fish

Still have the old filter running in my tank, running 2x U3 filters.

water looks cloudy due to rescape, but old filter still in tank at left side if you look closely at pic

my tank is heavily stocked and had dead spots for flow so decided to run 2 filters Which seems to have done the trick. Tanks been running for a few years so quite mature.
