new to fish and pets altogether

Hi,

I just got a new Betta as a gift from my girlfriend. I named him "Champion." He looks like a blue ribbon a champion at a contest would win.

Champion is my first pet ever. I am glad I found this forum and help to learn to take care of Champion through it.

welcome to the forum! bettas are great fish for beginners, since theyre pretty tough and easy to care for fish. theres a whole betta section on here, read through some of it, you'll find lots of great advice, and that betta owning is quite addictive, you can't ahve just one (we call it Gotta Getta Betta Syndrome or GGBS, many of us here suffer from it ). feel free to ask any questions you have, theres no such thing as a stupid question here!!!
