Im just setting up my first aquarium and was wondering if i could have bettas mixed in with other fish like guppy's, neons and similar.

Was advised to get three female bettas and one male, is this ok?

I have a juwel rekord 800 ( 110L ) came with a complete setup

Hello Welcome the the forums. Male and female bettas generally are not advised to keep together as they are likely kill each other. Females are ok together to form a sorority but believe may need more than 3. The male bettas also generally should not be mixed in the community, it does depend on his temperament but guppies are likely to be targets of being beaten up and killed.

As above there are not many fish that can be kept with male bettas, tetras tend to nip the betta as well, there are a few topics on tank mates but the only ones I have any experience with are African dwarf frogs and apple snails. They go ok with the fellas. Females need to be in groups of 5+ i believe to keep aggression down and they are hit and miss (I don't own any but i am hoping to keep them in a community tank) some people say they are kept fine with neons guppies etc others say treat them the same as males with regards to other kinds of fish. Hopefully someone can be a little more helpful.

Yep, as above:)

Who advised you that you could mix males and females? A fish shop by any chance? If so, dont believe a word they ever tell you and find a new shop!

Maybe the place that advised him had betta imbellis?
