new tanks

heres my new betta tanks, the one on the left is stanly he's mine and the one on the right is my gf's his name is rupert, now what types of plants could i put in there to give them both a little more decore, cause as u can see they are a little dull.

They're quite lovely tanks, actually.

If you want a good live plant to add that's hard to kill, go with the Java Fern. Bettas LOVE it!

how long do they take to grow? the tanks are only 2 1/2 gal. so i dont want the things to be over run. i was looking at the petit nana but i dont kno the temp range of them

They don't grow too fast without lighting in my experience. And even with lighting, it won't take over your tank, my Bettas love LOTS of Java Fern.

A lot of people have the java fern in their tanks.
I have Amazon Swords in mine. My guys like to lay in among and on the leaves of it. It is easy to keep and hardy.

would i need lights if i were to get that plant? they will be in a fairly bright room of the house, it gets the sun morning till midday, will i honestly ned lights? cause i was told that if i have lights too close to the tank ill have an algea problem. also if i do have an algea problem in the long run what do i do?

You don't have to have lights. I have lights in most my tanks, but it's not a must.

i have cabomba and java moss in mine with no lights etc and my lads love it, or elodea densa

Can someone post a pic of Java fern? I bought some plants from my lfs and there is one which i think may be a fern, but my betta keeps eating the leaves

mine looks kinda like these plants on the right

but they are a darker green

well if a light isnt neccsary then i probaly put off getting one till i absolutely need it wen i move out in septemberish. lol well im hoping for that
