New Tank

Hi everyone. Im new to the salt world but not the fresh water scene. Here is what Im looking at buying.
150 gal tank with hood, stand and 4 sets of lights.
Live crushed rock
3 Emperor filters and 2 heaters
all for $500.00
I know this is a pretty good deal but here is my delima......the person had some problems with ick and everything in the tank got killed. He treated the water with copper and now I can only put fish in it and no live reef. I can do with just fish. I went to my lcf and they told me to get rid of the filters and get a 400.00 system with a built in protine skimmer. This is fine except Im wondering if the tank is now such a good deal since basically i have to get a new filtration system. Im thinking the emperors will be fine with a skimmer but in a long run the cartridges will get pretty expensive. basically----is 500.00 still a good deal even know I will have to add another 400 or so to go with it. Thank you for any help

Is the tank drilled so you can add a sump?

What I'm thinking is that if it is, you can ditch the filters and get just a skimmer and use the sump for muds/algaes...

Navarre would have more info though...
