I was speaking with our companies paralegal yesterday about fishkeeping and she offeredto sell me an old tank of hers. all glass 45 gallon with lights, hood, all oak stand and matching topper for $75. the stand will need a sanding and staining but the tank holds water, the silicone is in great shape. I will pick it up in 3 weeks when she moves. now I just need to find a place in my tiny apartment for a 5th tank

Nice one m8

Now, when you have found room for it, all you have to decide, is what to keep in it.

Could be time to start thinking about DISCUS? A nice size tank for six young fish.

5?! where do you get the time to spend on looking after them all? How much time do you spend a week on your current setup?

Acute MTS I'm affraid  - I think Tanked is incurable  ;)

Does the missus know yet ?  :D

:)

the tank is going to go in the bedroom and for stocking it will be up to jane. she wants swordtails for sure and wants to breed her guppies and platy's. her 10 gallon is going to my betta and ramshorn snail and the 5 gallon is going to a freind who wants to keep a betta. so I will only have 4 tanks.

it takes me about 2 hours a week for cleaning/water changes on the current setup.

Dolphin, I would love to keep discus in there but will haveto wait until we move. when Jane and I can afford to move she wants to build me a fish mouse in the backyard :D :D :D . she is going to be a doctor so I guess she will have the money to do it. I will also set up a 220 gallon display tank in the living room at that point and keep angels and discus in there. (total time from now about 3 years)

You may need to get your floors checked out/reinforced if you're putting a 220 gallon tank there. My living room has suspended floorboards, don't think theyd take it. Would the insurance cover a tank disaster

I live in florida where we can not have basements do to the ground is pink coral and the water table is less that 20 feet below the surface. the 220 will be sitting on the first floor with only carpet and the concrete foundation of the house. so I'm not worried about weight distribution. I still have a long time to wait though as jane must finish Grad school before we buy a house.

Wow! Lucky you! When you get it set up, be sure to take before and after pix of your tank! :D And a few pix of your new fishes would be nice too!
