Hi beltdrive

Congrats on the new tank.

You need to get a filter that will cope with a tank of about 200 liters, this is just over the capacity of your tank, but better is more than less. The Make of filter you buy is up to you and what you can afford.

There are many types of substrate that you can use. If you wish to grow plants then you can buy special soil for this, and then cover it with sand. There is the standard gravel, coloured gravel, Larger stones. Again the choice is what you personally like, and can afford.

Not much help, but the choice is yours.

if u want superb filtration.....which might mean u can keep a few more fish...id go for the fluval 4

ive got a new juwel tank with built in filter but im gettin a fluval 4 too......they seem to be very popular in all the fish shops i been in

if like dolphin says....its a 200 litre tank....then u might consider an 'out of water' filter. i think 1 of them is the enheim ecco......they are about £80....but u can get a similar 1 for £40 if ur in the u.k.

sand is nicer to look at and cichlids seem to like it for sifting thru some bottom feeders may like sand also not to mention crabs cray. other fish may prefer gravel i would use gravel if i was going to get a cory but i would get fine gravel. gravel is more practical for planting and also is easyer to clean with a hoover. now filter i would use an external filter for such a big tank totally up to you what brand ecstera.

If it were me I would use sand or tiny gravel and a fluval 404 hooked up to a BioWheel pro 60. but that is just me. It is a matter of your preference.
