current residents are 1 albino shark, 1 rainbow shark, 6 pristella tetras (dinner eventually)

I am going to get 2 tank bred angels, 2-4 convict cichlids, another silk pleco, adult this time (rip first one, bad rainbow shark), 1 gold nugget pleco, 1 black knife fish and I think that will about do it.

any ideas on compatibilty or changing it up a bit

do not think the angels are a good idea. see their fins getting ripped and them tangling with the convicts. also i beleive that knife fish prefer darker tanks and if put in lighter tanks will just hide. could be wrong. if you are talking about a black ghost knife, then this is the wrong set up for it. also angels prefer vegetation and the convicts will make light of any vegetation that you put into the tank.

just a few.

Another thing on the BGK,they get to about 18" and need a tank of around 75 gallons minimum.

ok, scrath the bgk (too bad they are really cool) and convicts will eat plant so they are out. that leaves me with:
2 angels (must have, favorite fish next to bettas)
1 rainbow shark
1 albino rainbow shark.
1 gold nugget plec
1 slik plec
I dont count the pristellas as I have already decided they are going to be dinner for other fish.

what are some good semi-agressive to agressive fish that will go well then? can not be a plant eater, I dohave many little hidey holes so terratorial fish will be happy. I want loaches but worry they may hurt themselves on my red slate. was thinking of 3 pictus cats too, but same red slate issue.

water will be:
ph 7.0 (comes that way out of my faucet and seems to stay there too, largest jump I have seen was to 7.2)
all other readings 0 except nitrates which seem to stay between 2-10 ppm for me.

How about a couple of satanoperca jurapari, earth eating cichlids generally peaceful can get to 12" but usually smaller needs water conditions similar to that of angels and will not harm plants (may dig poorly rooted specimins up but if kept in pots this wont be a problem),and a few hoplosternum thoracatum, armoured catfish gets to about 7" again wont harm plants very peaceful will leave even fry alone and again shares similar water conditions to angels.A few corydoras would be good additions as well.

Having seen another post in which you say you want to feed livebearer fry to your fish i would also suggest some south american leaf fish, they only get to about 4" and wont harm fish that cannot be eaten but have one of the fastest mouths i have ever seen, anything under 2" that gets too close just vanishes in a blur of speed, awesome to watch, these again will enjoy the same water conditions as angels.

the angels i am getting are tank bred not wild caught and every generation of them heas been in 7.0 ph as opposed to the 6.5 that angels usually like. I wanted tank bred for that reason as it is less chemicals that I will have to add to the tank.

7.0 will be fine for all the fish i suggested as well :D

thanks cfc I looked up some pictures of the fish you mentioned and am rather keen on the satanoperca jurapari. they look really neat and I saw a variety that was yellow and orange which i would love to find. I am thinking of taking my dremmel annd smoothing the sharp edges off of the rocks so that I can get 3 pictus cats. I just love their long fu man chu whiskers.

jane wants me to get 2 Nandopsis octofasciatus "blue dempsy" but i am worried about them with the angels.
