cough just popped over from the pond bit to ask a few questions ,ive just added a 9 neons to a tank 35gallon ,been running it for a week with no fish,im looking for some shoaling fish but with really bright colours for the kids,i know theres thousands of tetra types but want to vary the size as well :dunno:

Well, the comments will be the same, 1) how cycled is the tank and 2) Neons are very susceptible to Nitrogen pollution and are far from ideal to cycle a tank,

Without more info, it is impossible to say. If the tank has really only been running for a week. how was it cycled?

Neons should not, in my opinion be added to newly cycled tank, they are far too weak when it comes to Nitrogen pollution, even the farmed.

tank was filled with 50/50 water from another tank already up and running left running for 1 week with fluval filter ,fully planted, then the fish were transferd across from the other tank, the fish are fine and swimming around happy as larry, water parameters are fine ,the question wasnt really about cycling etc but what to add in with them, tropical isnt really my thing its the kids tank i just look after them

Platys grow to about 2"-2.5" and come in a variety of colours.

Also pretty hardy so will cope with a new tank.

ok one more question ,the tank im using had coldwater fish in it and the gravels quite chunky ,problem the tetras love hiding in the gravel and keep vanishing

question is playpit sand suitable for tetras ive read elsewhere on this forum it has been used in tanks ??? :dunno:
