I just set up a new little tank and filled it up last night and all seems to be in good order.

Was wondering, do I actually need to put sand down? I had sand in my old tank and I didnt like it at all.

I put a LR on the bottom of the tank and I quite like the mirrored effect from the bottom of the tank.

The tank is acrylic

Ofc I will go and get some if it is needed!

Nope, not needed at all unless you want to keep sand dwelling species such as some gobies, pistol shrimp etc.

Alot of people with SPS dominated tanks run barebottom. This is to keep substrate from blowing all over the tank.

If you do run bare bottom, i'd suggest getting a couple extra lbs (kilos) of live rock for added filtration.
