i would remove some at a time.

The algae will be helping to keep your nitrates and phosphates low.

Once your levels are consistently low it should begin to remove itself.

You dont mention what clean up crew you have as these could play an active part in the algaes removal too.

Is that green coral hard or soft? If it's a softy, I'd say Green Nepthia, if it's a hard coral, its likely either Hydnophora, or pocillipora

oy my word ---

As Mutant said, what cuc do you have in there? - must admit, think I would go out and get myself an emerald crab - algae eating machines :good:

hello fish friends.

My clean up crew from what Ive seen is(hard to count and see all lol).. 2 red hermits, 4 blue hermits, maybe 6 snails that live on the sand bed or on my glass (Cerith Snail)... I have one Emerald Mithrax Crab, two cleaner shrimp also...

The coral is a hard one.. it doesnt seem 2 be doing well.. some black on it :( this tank was not cared for.. I have much work to do.. pls help me

Thanks you
sorry for my english

Hello again friends.. sorry.. I forgot something
here are the actions I have done so far
1.changed a large amount of water... 60% +/-
2. added ROWAphos, 1 week ago
3. added carbon, 1 week ago

Doin the right stuff so far. If I were you tbh, I'd prune a lot of that algae out and see if it grows back. If not, you've got the nutrient issue under control. If it does grow back, we'll have to investigate a little.

Are you using RO water or tap water?

My base uses two ROWPU units with triple pass for very clean water, I do not know the numbers on the out water i will ask in the next day.
also we do not drink this water without mixing powder in it.. it is treated with powder before we drink it. I do not know if this helps. but to show how clean they say it is.. i believe we treat the water with powder bcecause of this
Thanks for help for me and for my tank :)

Right, why do you have to put a powder in the water from a RO unit? Get yourself a TDS meter and take a reading :good:

Would be really interesting to hear about your circumstances - where in China you live etc - with some photos :snap:

i will ask the engineer about the powder also, I do not add the powder to the tank water. I have someone bring my gallons of un-powderd water to my house, i spoke of the powder to give better idea of what the water was. I will ask for more details today...

i am in Changchun Shi

ok, great :good: whilst we are waiting for the info, can you tell us a little about the area you live in, Changchun Shi

My word, I've just be looking up your area, very interesting :good: but it says your weather at the moment is -11c  Now thats cold.

Is it really as cold as that.
Sorry for going off topic but its so interesting talking to people from different countries

Sounds ilke you've got really pure RO water there. The reason you add the powder is because RO water is actually a good solvent and constantly drinking it as your only water source is not good for your health longterm. The powder you add is likely calcium and/or carbonate additives to eliminate the solvent characteristics of pure RO water. So, input water source is not your problem. Likely just dealing with years of neglect. Keep feedings to a minimum to help yourself out here.

Also, what lights are you using?

hello fish friends,

how much should I be feeding? I have two clownfish type unknown you can see them in one of my photographs. as for the lights, I had too google but they are metal hydyes like this model

the person i talked to only cold tell me its 1200L/hour system and is very costly, I do not want to bother him more with the subject I believe the water is correct I use kent salt.

yes we have a large range of climent.. -11 is a good tempature cold is good for health :)

After reading Ski's explanation of the powder we can rule out water quality :good: So you now need to test the water in your tank :good: Have you got some good test kits? Minimum at the moment is ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH and phosphate - when you have tested post your results on here for us to have a look at :good:

So, first job - test water
second job - get your hands in there and start pulling that algae out
Expect the third job will be a large water change, but lets wait for your results first
