Cor how I missed keeping fish.

So now I am getting a bigger tank, however quick question. Am I OK to just chuck the water into the tank and use my de-chlorination chemicals, rather than keeping and treating the water standing in a bucket?

As it is a much bigger tank I'm not going to be using my patented 24 hour fish tank set up. I'm going to let the water run through the pump for a few days before moving my fish between tanks.

You can use dechlorinator with no probs as long as you use the correct dosage.

As for setting up your new tank you need to cycle it unless you are going to (a.) move a good proportion of water from your old tank over to the new tank and (b.) going to use your old filter that has already cycled. If you don't you'll be putting your fish into an uncycled tank and run the risk of stressing/killing them because the filter won't be cycled and there for won't be able to process/neutralise the waste that the fish produce.

If you're not going to move your existing filter accross with water you need to cycle your tank for at least 2 weeks. See the following for some more info :)

Oh I'm moving over some 'clean' old tank water and lots of nice bacteria ridden gravel ;)
