Well you may think that after starting a successful Nano Reef I would go onto bigger things. Infact it has been the complete opposite and my newest project is turning the first tropical tank I ever bought into a "pico" reef.
The term "pico" as far as I am aware is used for any marine system under 5 gallons, so the 4.8G capacity is just right.

I am of course not having any fish in the tank, but I am thinking of putting my 4 sexy shrimps in there and seeing if i can breed them. At the moment it is ticking over and I have just popped in some spare Live-Rock pieces that i blagged from work to get it going.

The tank will probably sit for a few weeks before i think about doing anything else, but I will keep this thread updated when I do anything new.

The tank:

4.8G tank
13W Compact T5 Lighting / BlueMoon Night lighting
Resun filter with minature spray bar filled with crushed alfagrog and a small sponge.
25W mini "sub" heater

May add more rock, depends what corals go in there...

Ben :)

Can you stock it with anything? If so,with what?

no...no fish...well..nothing more than a neon goby..for the most part, no fish. A few cleanup and a single shrimp perhaps. SH

Im stocking it with these sexy shrimps.....

4 of them in there.

Then probably something else, not sure what yet though, almost deffinately a couple of snails. I have considered the possibility of moving a neon goby to the 5G tank, but if I ever do it wont be unntil the tank is very mature and I am happy that it is completely stable.

I never really thought of shrimp as interesting....but hmmh....maybe I should check up on them..

Some shrimps are great fun to watch and can be real characters. Sexy Shrimps have a perpetual thrusting motion with their tail which gives them the name "Sexy Shrimps" They are also beautifully coloured like a lot of the marine shrimps and lobsters.
