hey guys,

i just finished building a new stand for my 40 gallon long tank. i have it set up and am very happy with it, however i noticed as i was putting a few things under the tank that the inside of the plastic frame at the front and back overhang the inside of the wood about an eighth of an inch or less. at the moment i only have the decor in the tank with no water. should i be concerned about this? it doesnt seem like is should torque the plastic so much that it would cause issues but im not entirely positive and i wanted to see what you guys thought before i added the water.

thanks :)

On a tank that is supported by the plastic frame, a proper support for that frame is essential. If it purely a decorative touch, and does not support the tank bottom, the slight overhang would be no problem. In the US, the most common arrangement is a frame that does indeed carry the entire weight of the tank and water. There is no way I would allow that frame top be any less than fully supported.
