i have a jewel 4ft tank!

Had salt water set up 2 weeks and just added live sand and rock today!

Few questions...

How long will sand take to settle? hours?days?

Whats the best temp to keep tank at (heard quite a few different recommendations)

And is it true we should expect to see some life forms appearing from the live sand? Ive heard you can get little creatures from it?!?

Cheer Chac!!

Just what I was looking for!

Sand is looking a lot more settled already!! Temp was only sitting at 24 so turned it up for a bit try and get it up a little.

ok ill stop checking tank every 2 secs for little creatures lol

Also should i be puttin on lights yet? or does it not make any difference at this point.
With only LR and LS I wasnt sure if they both need light at this point!!

Wahey I know us Scots are a little out numbered lol

p.s Chac just reading posts on your tank, following the progress its looking brilliant  ! I hope my own experiance goes as easy as you make it look!! ;)

Yeah, put the lights on. It will encourage photosynthetic organisms to come out, and youll see alot more. :good: Goodluck!

Turning the lights on at night?? Start trying to get on a schedule of when to turn your lights on, or invest in a timer. :D

Hey Locke what kind of schedule should i be doing with the lights? I have a time so i can set this up can u advise?

thanks

About a 10 hour cycle is normal. I put mine on at noon and they shutoff a little after 10pm. If you're running a sump, have those lights on in an opposite schedule. My sump lights come on at 10pm and go until 12noon :)

i have mine runnin on a timer too from 10 till 8pm as i feel bad them having a too late light time

My times are as follows

Actinics ON -- 13.30pm
Metal Halides ON -- 14.30pm

Metal Halides OFF -- 22.30pm
Actinics OFF -- 23.45pm

:good:
