hi all....
i`m in the process of cycling my new 100 gal tank....

I`ve got a couple of pieces of mopani wood, a pile of spaghetti rock in it... my local ph is normally 7.6, but the rocks buffered it up to 7.8. I`m loathed to take the rock back out, cos it looks so good...

does anyone have any suggestions, of what fish I could add, apart from the obvious Cyclids.

cheers!

I would add some swordtails they can handle higher PH and they are gentle fish. That is what I have in mine. I have only a 30 gallon and am working my way up to a tank I saw the 95 wave woo hoo. Also you culd take the ph down with chemicals at the store if that is what you are trying to do. On the other hand I woudl surely wait until the tank cycled and test it then. mine is perfect after about 4 weeks now. still a liitle hard but the fish are doing great.

I would not suggest using the PH adjusting chemicals, they do more harm then good. 7.8 isn't too high, almost all fish will adjust to any PH.
I don't have any suggestions for fish, because when I buy fish I don't tend to worry about the PH they prefer (probably because I get all the cheap and hardy fish! LoL). I think my PH is around 7.6-7.8, and I have goldfish, tetras, bettas, loaches, cories, guppies, danios etc. and I think they are all fine with the ph level, if you want to try any of those fish out. I think a big tank of swordtails would be awesome, like jolaf said
