Many thanks for allowing me to join.

For years I've wanted a fish tank but due to plans on moving/ building work going on etc I've never had a tank. Now we are living in a house we are intending to stay I've got my heart set on a fish tank.

My question is how close to a wood burner can a fish tank go. Either side of my fireplace there are some 3ft openings and I was hoping to put one in there so in theory it will be 2ft away from the fire with a 1ft thick fireplace between the 2.

Will this be OK or will the water get too hot.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Start the fire and let it burn for a few hours, then stand where the tank will go. If you feel warmth from the fire then the tank will warm up. If you don't feel any heat from the fireplace, then the tank will be fine.
