new tank coming along - some might accuse me of a little cheesyness but I like the darker look!

now just waiting for the ammonia to drop etc...

comments welcomed!

I like that a lot... fish colors should come out real nice against such a dark background and it sure is very different from what we're used to see! For all of that, well done! :good:

Fab looking tank. Are you going to add plants, not that I think it needs it.

I picture a bunch of dark marble angels in there. Or some vampires. Or a yellow platy.

J/k on the platy. Great looking tank. WHat are you going to put in it?

You know what's cool with this setup? When the water gets cloudy, it will cast an even heavier mood in the tank and really feel like something dramatic is about to happen!

You've pulled the 'cheesy' look off well :good:

Thanks for the positive comments!

Dark is the theme, and I was considering a vampire plec but they prefer acidic to neutral so I read; mine is naturally alkaline so planning a couple of Rift Valley syno cats, a couple of Raphael cats, and a male Dempsey (possibly a breeding pair) - their colour should provide strong contrast with the dark background/substrate.

not planning plants as I quite like the barren look of the tank, and the Dempsey(s) will likely demolish them anyway; dark marble angels...mmm I like that a lot! Will likely move the Dempseys into my next tank as they mature; must remember dark marbles, they would look great :good:

Checked out the home-made celtic cross; excellent piece of work, though beyond my skills I think...my ebay special should look better for a little algae-coating hopefully

Looking good

are you a goth

you should see my bedroom...ooooerr!! Not posting a pic of that as I might get arrested

I was after a dark look to the tank as I figured it would provide good contrast to the super fishes in the mid and upper sections of the tank, and a dark floor for the catfish to camouflage with! I will give you a pic of the moonlight effect LED however! Should scare the c**p out of the fish...but nothing my bacteria can't handle hopefully  I look forward to watching their silhouettes passing by...

And OK, I know you really want to get a glimpse...the bedroom!

No, I'm not a goth, just in touch with my dark side

Oh my... I can see how the tank can match the bedroom now

That really is freaky, but that makes your tank even cooler now as it fits the theme perfectly!

Can't wait to see fish in there, but make sure you have a tight lid or they might creep out of the tank at night and use black magic on you while you're asleep!
