new tank peramaters

ive had my new tank set up a week now.....180 litres.....added 4 tetra's 4 days ago....but the ammonia and nitrite leves havent changed at all

is it normal for these levels to still be nil or should they be creepin up by now???

You should start to see ammonia levels rising soon. Usually peaks about 8th day i believe. Of course all situations are different.

Hi Teknikz

You will see the ammonia rise and fall in the second week. The nitrite should start to rise as the ammonia falls with a peak in about week 4.

Every setup is different, so the days on which the reading rise, peak and fall are never the same for two tanks.

Keep testing every few days.

ammonia will be high in the first week. then nitrites rise, than nitrates. and then you add the fish u wanna keep the cycle will usually take from 4-6 weeks to complete.
