I've had my 20 gallon SW tank set up for three days now, I think its done cycling. So im gonna introduce 3 boxfish, 4 clowns, 2 Anthias and a litte 6" King Barracuda I caught at the beach. :shifty:

Do you know any thing about box fish ... they will kill every thing in you tank and a three day old tank cycled it think its ready ... you must be a ROCK . you might as well toss your tank out the door get a life abd buy a book or something. don't put up stupied post. :grr:

you need to let your tank cycle for at lest one month and i would buy a water testing kit and three box fish NO maybe one when your ready that fish is very tempermental and if provoked will kill every thing in you tank EVERY THING and HIM SELF... do it the right why and be patinet.

I think those first two replies were really harsh!

Ah, Sid that was a playful remark, I knew right away that he was joking about what he was doing.

herefishyfishy, check out the post called "my new nano." You will love it.

So RamJet, the store just gives u sick fish they dont want? Is it easy to treat them for Velvet? Do u get fish with any other illnesses?

Yes, I am treating pop eye, velvet and ich all right now. Some I loose, some I dont. They only send the ones that are really bad to me. The ones they think dont have a chance. I do what I can for them.

so do u just give them a FW dip, or do u use any other medications. It must feel great when u saved a fish!

It all depends of the fish, some are so ill that you dont want to do a dip right away, too much stress, so I get them in a copper tank and treat them with meds. When they begin to recover, I dip them, continue treatments.
OH, this was in your profile:
20 gallon Reef (Just set up)
-8 lbs live rock
-4 small hermits
-3 small sergeant majors
-3 very small and 1 small fish (silver with black stripe running
lengthwise and one running across top)
-and 1 very small pipefish (I think)
Ok, do you really think the pipe fish in a new tank with sergeant majors is a good idea? Hmmmmm......
Oh, and this is not a reef, its a fish and live rock tank.
Well, if you still have them, lets get you up on how to care for the tank.
What do you have for filters, and what are your day and night temps, are you using R.O. water? Do you have a test kit?
You really ought to think about retruning the Sargeant Majors, they are very agressive and will even attack divers. Slow it down a bit and lets get this thing going in a safe manner for the fish.

I moved the Pipe fish to a large goldfish bowl in attempt to give him time to feed, so far he's doing okay.
And so far the tank his fish and live rock but its a reef tank in progress.
I have a Penn-Plax Cascade 150 power filter with bio-falls and an undergravel filter.
My average morning temp. is about 77 degrees F and the evening average is 79-80.
About half my water is tap water mixed with Red Sea salt and about half is real ocean water from the ocean.
