Hi,
Right now, i have an established tank of 80 gallon with 12 tiger bars (medium size; not fully grown) and 2 common pleco. I would like to know if it is possible to add say 4 angels(large size) along with 12 cardinals. I've heard stories that angels and TB cannot live together; however, the guy from my LFS told me that provided the angels' size are bigger; it should be ok in a big tank.

Any inputs? Also, if they cannot live together, what other fish can go with TB?

Thanks

Keep in mind that small fish like Cardinals and Neons are the natural food of Angelfish in the wild. I've heard of it working, but personally, I think it's a pretty expensive risk to take.

Supposedly a large number of TB's will not nip other fish, because of the aggression being spread within the shoal. I personally wouldn't risk it with the angels trailing long fins, though I think others would. If you do decide to try it, watch out for harassment, and be prepared to remove either the angels or tiger barbs.

in a tank that big and with that many you should be fine, but only way to tell is do it and keep an eye on it. I've got 10 TBs with my gourami's and they don't bother them at all, they are way too busy fighting over food and looking for ghost shrimp.

Tiger barbs should not be in the same tank with long finned fish due to the fact that tiger barbs are known to fin nip so they would probably nip on an angelfish's fins since they are a bit long.

The general rule was not to put them together, however, so many factor comes into play when putting fish together.
I will give it a try. will update post
