Hi everyone, I hope you all had a good christmas and newyear, Sorry i have not been around but thhings werent good for me oover the Festive holidays and kinda kept me away from posting anything  I wont delve into that now as this is a new thread for the new year and hopefully my new system will be everything i hope it will be.

Ok so out with the old and in with the new...

This system is going to be ripped out tomorrow, the fish all have new homes and will be well looked after. The only fish i am keeping from the entire system is my splendid wrasse as it one of my favorite fish and will be an ieal size for the new tank.

My new tank is onorder and will arrive in a couple of weeks. Its a 30" cube and will give me 75 Imp gallons (so no more tangs for me i guess  ). I will be placing a sump under it with different types of media although most will be unseeded liverock as i have loads of the stuff from my current system.

Not much more to tell at the moment other than watch this space

Yeah im dropping from 220 gallons to 75

However i feel this size is more managable from me and a better size for the house.
The sump.. im not sure at the moment. I have a few tanks here that i can strip down and will be making a custom one up out of it. I intend a different type of sump to most though. Where as most sumps will use an over/under weir system I intend using a side pass through. This means the sump level should never drop as badly as with an over/under wier.
I am planning to use an algae bed along with unseeded liverock in the sump. If i have the space near the tank i intend to use a DSBalsobut this is only a secondary thought at the moment.

Im planning to make the cube into a haven for Sps and lsp corals with a few zoos and ricordias to add some movment to the tank. I hope to create an sort of atoll structure so the fish can swim around the entire rock display This could hide the downpipe in the center of the tank (havent had it drilled yet but this is my plan).

Sad to see the big tank go what happening to it?

The new tank should be good fo aquascaping with a 30" front to back? What are your plans for this?

Dang, that 220 was awesome. :good: Good to see your still staying in the game. Cant wait for more updates, and see how the new 75 progresses. Good to see you round again Nav.

Thanks everyone.. lets just i was down but definately not out lol.

My plans for the cube are mostly sps and lps with zoos and rics for movment. I am aiming for a single atoll in the center so the fish can swim around it completely.

Sadly the tank is too much work for me to put right. The majanoes were just out of control so now im going to sterilise the rock and start fresh.

Sorely missed indeed Nav :D. Cant wait to see what you get up to with the new tank. Gonna miss seeing the big 220 though

Gonna miss seeing the big 220 though

I wont be i can tell you lol

I have had quite a few tanks now andi can honestly say that i was far happier whenihad a smaller tank. Perhaps this is because i had the majano problem and it almost completely destroyed my enjoyment of the hobby. I could keep just about any fish i wanted inthis tank but somehow i just never got myself into it likei did with myother tanks.
I amhowever looking forward to my new system and i realluy feel this will be a winner when its completed :good:

OK well its now all gone!
The fish were found new homes yesterday, the live rock is now dead and dryingin the backgarden, my sole remaining fish (Splendid wrasse) is ow swimming nicely in my wifes nano system along with my 3 blood shrimps, cleaner shrimp and my long lost pistol shrimp which i havent seen since the day i put itin the system! lol

My tangs could not want for a better tank as i firmly believe its probably the very next best thing to the natural ocean. Its a 250,000 ltr tank (thats roughly 66,000 US gallons and 55,000 IMP gallons) ( i will be returning for photos).

Im now just waiting for hte new tank to be delivered.. only 1 slight problem here though... the tank is a 30" cube and our door is only 28" wide  Why is nothing in life ever simple!

Having seen pics of you coping with the beastly large tank, I am sure you will manage with this one.

/me is glad he lives too far from this mod to help him move tanks (how long till CFC moves his tanks again... )

Well it looks like this tank will pose a larger problem than the monster i just had removed.
The interior door frame could be removed to allow the tank entry but i have just measured the front and back doors and they are both smaller than 30" wide. Both are made of upvc so i cannot alter these in anyway. :grr:

So i now face 2 choices...
Make the tank smaller (but its already ordered soi dont know if its been made yet).
Or when the tank arrives, strip it down and rebuildit in the living room.

Wont now the answer to that until I talk with my tank supplier on monday.

Ah well I would be bored i guess if everything went according to plan :hyper:
