Hello, first of I am running a 65 Gallon fresh water tank.
It is presently equiped with a Penguin 200 Bio Wheel, and a Emperor 280 bio wheel. Both of these filters are rated to give excelent filtration for up to 50 gallons. The question is as such there is no air pump running. Whear as my HOB 280 has a spray bar, to add extra air bubbles into the water. Now it works well when my lights are on depending on how i set it I can see little bubbles going all the way down to my substrate. Atleast right infront of the filter. Is this adiquite? Should i install my air pump?

Oh ya just one last thing could I install my air pump below the tank if I use a check valve? Or could splashing water fry it? I figured originaly it should be above the water line. acording to the manufacturer. Any help would be great.

I also remember some one posible hanging an air pump in a pop bottle to reduce noise, maby make it splash resistant to. lol we will c.,

If you water is agitated enough at the surface by your filters, you dont ctually need a air pump.

I have my pumps below the tank cos nothing to put it on above, and i use valves to stop the backflow, the pump is in a boxed part of the cabinet so cant get splashes on it..

:)
