New Tank 55 Gal

i just bought a new tank and i could use some pointers on how not to kill the 8 fish im moving. i have about ten gal of the watter from the old tank and i planed on running the old filter in the new tank for the first couple weeks. my new tank has to go were the old one was so i baged my fish for the time being. any tips would be great, thanks
