I got a snail from my lfs last week. For the first few days it was really active going all over the glass. But now it's staying on the bottom of the tank in it's shell most of the time.

It's shell has had craters in it since I bought him. Not sure what that means? He's not that big so I know it can't be old age. Maybe he isn't getting enough food? I can't see how thats possible but maybe

This actually is what would happen when I kept snails years ago. Thats one of the reasons I havent gotten any since. But I figured with all the stuff I was doing wrong back then that that must of been the reason they died.

I'm sad cause I really liked this little snail :-(

hi,

Just curious,

what temp is your tank kept at? and with what other fish.

The temp in the tank is at about 26-27. The other fish are gouramis, rasboras, cherry barbs and a bristlenose pleco. I've only had the snail for about a week though.

He could of just been feeling hyper when you got him and now hes being lazy. My snails are the same way one day there track runners and the next there Homer Simpson. Hes probably fine. But at the store you got him from do they use crayfish to control the number of snails?

Try puttin a peice of lettuce in front of it and watch and see if it comes out. That is what gets my cana's to come out most of the time. If you dont have lettuce try algae pellets or something to that degree.
