Hey, I have a tank that is 60 inches long, 12 inches high, and 9 1/2 inches from front to back. The tank is 28 US gallons. What kind of saltwater fish could i have in a tank with that size. Also what equipment would i need, like lighting, sump, skimmer (if needed even) filters, pumps, etc.

Perhaps a couple of clowns, royal gramma, 6 Line wrasse, and a dwraf angel.. coral beauty or a flame angel etc.

Lighting.. I would recomend you use T5s (not sure what they are called in the USA) as the tank is not overly deep you could probably get away with not using halides unless you really want to head for Acros etc.

A sump is not essential but sure does help. If your tank is not drilled then you will need an overflow box and these can be triky to setup and eep maintained

I would recomend a skimmer for the tank as they will hlpe with your filtration. And as much liverock as you can afford to bear the brunt of the filtration. 28 gallons would roughly need 15kg of live rock as a starter.

And dont forget circulation. Very important. try and aim for 10x the tank volume in circulation. 28 gallons= 280 gallon turnover per hour.

Exactly what kind of saltwater tank are you looking for?

Do you want corals? Or just fish and some other neato stuff?

It is an ideal shape to have a reef system with corals. But costs can start being a factor.

Shoot me your location and I can even help you locate some good used stuff if needed. I am always lookig around myself.
