hi ive just joined the site and as for the last hour ive been reading up on the site and the various segments of information i required,,ive got a tank that has been cycled for just over 8 weeks, and all the tests were as should be for healthy fish, and a healthy aquarium for them to live in, these are the tests i used, and what i tested for Ammonia (NH3/4); Nitrite (NO2); Nitrate (NO3); pH (Wide Range), im currently using nutrafin aqua plus for my tank,it's now home to 2 Fairy Cichlid's i was just curious as to what other type's of fish would do well with these? or what would people recomend help and advice would be great,,,
feeling as tho ive done nothing but reasearch fot the past 6mths( before tank purchase, during the cyle and even now :) sorry for the rant

As your fish are Lake Tanganyika cichlids, I presume you are looking to stock other cichlids from there. You may be better asking in the old world cichlid section.

How big is your tank? I also have Fairies. Are they male and female or aren't they big enough for you to tell? There is nothing stopping you stocking some cory's, plecs (providing your tank is big enough) and the usual livebearers. Could you post some pictures of your tank?

Cheers.

Tanganyika setups are far different to what a Cory is used to, i.e. Tanganyika is full of rocks, corys prefer bogwood and sand substrates and often plants for the "at home" effect.

Also if Fairy Cichlid's breed every other fish will just get bullied to the corners of the tanks, livebearers would be in a warzone.

Plecs are possible but that depends on your tank size, which you havnt told us. You could obviously look at other Tanganyika cichlids and also synodontis catfish, but again, tank size is massively important.

So what could go in the tank with two fairies "if they decide to breed?" Other dwarf breeds of cichlids would cause further aggression between the two. When i added a pair of Kribs the Fairies weren't happy and the Kribs didn't seem happy either. They spent all day chasing one another.

hiya thanks for all ur input,,still not sure what types to get to go with fairys, the tank info is on my profile and it is two and a half foot,im just putting some pictures on now :)

Your pictures didn't work...

The males will be bigger than the females and will have elongated fins and tails. Very much a lyretail.

Cheers, David.
