Hi, im going to set-up either, a 4g with a small yellow coral goby and a small clean up crew, with a shrmp and a couple hermits, possably a nerite snail.

Or a 10g, with either 1 or 2: Percula clowns, firefishs, humbug damsels, Bangaii Cardinals and i love Yashia Haze gobys (Stonogobiops yashia). I know this info conflicts with the fish index info from this site, as they say 30g min for most of these, allthough often the writer of the post has one or more in a much smaller tank, but i have info from another nano forum, that they will all be ok.

As far as lighting goes, i wold have an Interpet Daylight Blue T5 Power Compact Lamp above the tank.
On the 4g, it would be about 25cm from the bottom of the tank, and on the 10, about 35cm from the bottom, so i would have my mushrooms and zoanthids (and possably some ricordea) quite near to the top.

So, how much LR would you have in the 10g? Im thinking about 5kg, but im not sure if id need more/less??? And how much/deep would you have the sand???

Any problems you can see there??? Anything ive missed out???

Also, what powerhead/filter would you surrgest/what flowrate???

Oh and when i go on holiday, what would i do???? the top wont have a top, and it wouldnt be very easy to get someone in to feed either...

Thanks alot, Mikey.

Yeah, thats what i was thinking, turnover wise. Do you think i could get a little less LR, say 3.5kg, cos im gonna have a fair ammount of rubble, and some mushroom and zoa frags too. That way, id have more surrface area for filteration...

Mikey

EDIT: seen this powerhead: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=110039675931 and id use that and a hagen elite mini too, so id have 720lph, and from 2 differant directions, so i can give any corals that need a little extra flow, the right ammount.

Cool, it should be quite interesting....

Also, i know someone not too far from me, who has some LR and mushrooms, so hopefully i can get a few of them for cheap...
Are you gonna get yours from a shop??

Mikey

my friend actually, unless someone else I know is gonna give me a better price. So no LR from a shop, well too expensive, might buy one or two pieices just to speed up growth but that's it. It comes with a small HOB fuge as well (not an ecosystem)

Yeah, its a better plan, plus you get it cheaper :D
He/she may throw in a couple of extras too 8)

just a suggestion on your fish choice - don't get humbugs - they can be really nasty little things, make sure you have a lid if you get firefish, i've heard stories of them jumping

part of the reason for not putting lots of fish in a small tank is the bio-load that they will put on it, eg it will be very difficult to keep the parameters stable (lots more water changes, testing stuff all the time etc.)
