Just rescaped my gf's tank after messing around with my own tank for a while now. Was a quick 2 hour job so excuse the imperfections. No CO2 low light low tech. Hopefully the plants I chose are pretty low maintenance so she doesn't have to worry about them too much. Comments welcome!

Thanks aaron. :) A lot of research inspired this, including your Forgotten Valley journal. Almost went out to get the marimo moss balls that you put into your tank in the beginning. Needed to know exactly what I was doing with the 2 hour timeframe I gave myself.

Yes it is VERY overstocked. But my gf just can't bear giving away any of the fishes yet. She's grown some sort of emotional attachment to them. She's very fond of the 4 platies and 2 mollies. The 2 guppies were her mum's "favourites". And the whole bunch of tetras were a bag of 20 she bought on a whim. This tank has been around for about a 8 months now and for some miracle the fishies seem to be alive and well in such an overstocked tank. They seem happy even. Water is crystal clear. I only do WC for her fortnightly. She commented that the new scape seemed to make the fishies even happier, so that's good to hear.

I dropped some plain and blue tiger shrimps and my two otos in there to clean up the detritus and minute algae in the tank at the moment. Will be transferring them over soon to the HC and HG tank in a while.

So those are java ferns I have in there under the drfitwood right? Low maintenance? :) I hope this won't turn into a CO2 high hi light hi fertilisation tank. Still trying to make the other nano tank work.

those java ferns are actually java fern 'windelov' but yes they are low maintenance, all others are too, except back right which may need a trim every few weeks, but it wont grow that fast if you have low light.

Aaron you mean the microswords? Actually what would I need to keep those alive anyways? root tabs?

In regards to pruning... just cut the tips off like HG?
