Hi there!

Never been here so i thought id pop my nose in and make a bit of noise regarding my new purchases at the weekend.

Have been restocking my 190 with angels for a more peacful(ish) tank and the misses kindly bought me a male and female red and black bristlenose (supposedl lda16)

I was told these are rare and would love to find more info out about them, tried plecofanatics and planetcatfish but would like some more info (maybe if someone actually owns these?) my male and female are about 3" each and are very active, always finding things to suck on etc.

Plan on buying/constructing them a little cave as they dont have anywhere dedicated in my tank at the moment

Hi welcome to the forum its a great site and very helpful.
Are yours short fin or long fins?
I have a long fin breeding pair red and black / calico's or know as lda16 they have had there 3rd spawn now and i have finally have 7 fry which are on growing really well. They are awesome fish.
short fins are known as piebald/red and black bristlenoses i believe.
Someone on here will clairfiy
I treat them the same as normal bristlenoses, which the male will like a cave, bogwood to rasp on.Feed them well and plenty of water changes they be very happy to spawn for you.The angels will have free meal on the babies once dad lets them out.
If you would like more information you will get all your answers here.
I learn something new all the time

Thanks!

Mine are the shortfin variation and look very nice. I like your point about the male liking caves/bogwood etc as that is all he has done so far, sit on the bog wood or suck the plants etc. The female however is a lot more active going out into the tank and the main feeding area i use to forage for leftovers etc, she must have cleaned my plants a few hundred times by now also =-)

I am going to be buying a custom made cave at some point soon that a friend had some bristlenose spawn in and will circle it with plants etc.

Any more info will be appreciated =-)
