Hey, my LFS told me that i need powerful filteration for my tank and so they suggested buying a powerhead for my undergravel filter which is running as well as my built in juwel filter. Its creating an awful amount of power even on the lowest setting and my tank is only 120 litres, so im wondering whether to go back to my air pump and take my powerhead out??

What sort of substrate are you useing? UGF's are generally considered insufficient as far as filtration goes, what this and other SW boards tend to suggest is a combination of a physical and chemical filtration system and a powerhead or closed loop to send water throught Live rock for biological filtration

Oh right. My substrate is sand so i suppose the powerhead on my undergravel filter is not making any difference? Its pushing little bubbles out at a fair rate along the surface of my tank and i dont think my clown fish are liking it :/

Ok, I was just wondering if you had enough to deal the filtration of the tank on its own, a poerhead shouldnt blow out bubbles unless the have the venturi attached, you should be able to turn that off.

It is runnign against the norm to run a marine tank on an undergravel so be aware and possible read up about teh possible problems so you know what to look for
