Hi,

Well this weekend we can put some fish in the pond that we have been working on for months. :yahoo:

I am going to get a few goldfish and a few koi carp. :fish:

What other fish would you suggest I should get. I love stergeons - would these be okay with the other fish?

I have always kept tropical fish, so this is quite an adventure for me. :good:

How many gallons is the pond and filtration will need to be good.

But remember that if you are having koi you need a good filtration set up and you need to dig deep!! Absolute miniimum 4ft, ideally more.

Well its certainly deep enough for koi - just make sure your filtration is ok. I would agree not to go for goldfish/shubunkins too - If your having koi stick to just them. I'm not really into sturgeons but they can look pretty cool.
koimag forum is good for any advice on koi and will help you with all aspects of your pond/filters etc

Make sure you research up a lot on sturgeons- there are many species of sturgeon, some of which require a lot of care to keep them thriving (they also require their own types of food), some species can also grow massive (even too big for a 15ft pond). This page has some good info on some of the species of and hybrids of sturgeon out there :) ;

:good: .
The pond is big enough for koi or goldfish, and there are plenty of types of carp out there as well (like ghost carp, mirror carp etc) or other types of fish like tench or red shiners etc. You should also check out this page for the legality of keeping certain coldwater species of fish and so forth;

You should take into consideration the compatability of the fish, their ability to breed and their food & enviroment requirements. Do you have any filtration for the pond? What sort (if any) of planting do you have, either around the pond or in it?
