New Pond Want Some Opinions On What To Do

ok so when i moved into my flat there was this stone circle thing in the back garden it had a cross in it and i thought to myself id knock the cross out and have a pond

anyway today i knocked the cross out and dug a little bit out then it hit me i dont really know how deep i should make it. so heres what im dealing with it roughly 5 and a half feet across or 1.6 metres whatever u prefere

currently ive only dug it down 200mm which isnt alot but knocking the cross out with the sledge hammer was tiring on a hot day like today

so how deep should i dig it? it will be covered to keep the neighbourhood cats out but never done a pond before so whats a good depth, ill only be keeping goldfish

try and go 3 feet deep if you can that will be enough for goldies, even in the winter
