I have a plec breeder and affectionado in town. I went Sunday and picked up some of his selection.

Wild Hypancistrus Zebra Plecos L316 (believe 1-male+4-Female) RARE= $400.00 group
Ancistrus Marble Plecos Long Fin bushy nose ( 6 ) = $20.00 ea. = $120.00
Ancistrus Albino Bushy nose ( both parents long fin ) = $5.00
Wild Ancistrus Pleco L182 Starlight bushy nose ( 1-male + 1-female )(NOT COMMON) $40.00 pair.

I also stopped by to get a tank for the Zebras. I got a 29 usg for them and got them in this afternoon. (I now can barely get through to the bathroom. My consolation is that they they may spawn and help me pay for an the 2 bedroom I will soon move to. One room is to be a fish room.) One of the ladies has a nice fat belly. He said if they spawned he would buy some. :) There is a fellow and 3 ladies of the L316 reputably. But it wouldn't surprise me if there are 2 males.

The marbles are still young but appear to be 2 fellows and 4 ladies.

And the Starlight L182 are a pair. For now they are in the the large community tank for lack of a suitable space for a breeding tank for them.

I am so behind in pics sorting and down loading. But maybe I will get caught up this week and post some of these guys.

Congratulations on your new additions, you lucky thing!
Look forward to pics. :good:

That sounds like a fantastic selection/collection.....

Green with envy!!!

I hope you do get a chance to work on your pics soon... This is driving me crazy! I need to see all of these fish :hyper:
At this rate you are going to have to spend 3 days just posting pics so we can see all of the new fish. :#
:friends:

Oh, but it is, just not the Zebra. L-316 is one of a variant species that resembles the L-46 and is itself valued.

but as mike rightly pointed out it is not Hypancistrus zerba....

it is a Hypancistrus species that someone has called "zebra".
and to be fair... it doesn't look like a zebra ;)

oh but its not the Hypancistrus zebra has been described so it can only be what you refer to as L46.

imo L316 doesn't even come close to H. zebra, see L173 for one that does.

imo another example of the 'zebra' name being used to inflate the price.
