New Plec!

I picked this guy/gal from Pier Aquatics yesterday, I was told it was an Ancistrus, but I was hoping one of you more experienced plec people could tell me what variation of Ancistrus it is.

from loking at the pictures.. i think its a BRISTLENOSE CATFISH a type of Ancistrus. wev got 1 downstairs. yep definetly a bristlenose catfish, he will clean ur gravel/sand and they especially like bloodworms.. they just plonk there mouths on top of the pile and eat,eat,eat!

I've boiled a bit of cucumber an lettace and thrown that in for it (unsure of the sex) i'll probably get some bloodworms since my other fish like them aswel.

Don't boil the cucumber - it'll rot really quickly...

bung it in raw - they will eat it fine

Have you a more precise idea of what type of bristlenose catfish it is as i've been searching planet catfish for a while now and had no such luck.

Also the pictures may be a bit decieving as it is only 1.5"

just by the colouring and the fact it has so many bristles at such a small size, id say http/www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/loric...istru/190_F.PHP was a good possibility.

How fast would my plec grow at its current size and does anyone have a general idea of life expectancy?

dosnt look 'fat headed' enough to be a medusa.

There are SOOOO many different ancistrus its hard to say for definate.
It'll probublt get to about 5" and if fed properly should be there in 6-8 months

Update on my plec, he or she is developing white horizontal lines down their back, also white patches at the top and bottom of tail fin.

You can barely see the white stripes on it's back mainly cos it's a side on view, but the colour goes strange on my camera when i take it though glass.
