New Plant Treatment

I know I have seen it before, but despite my best efforts I cannot find it.

I have a few new plants arrived today from an importer, before I put them in my aquarium I would like to try and ensure they are free from any parasites or bugs. How should I go about this?

wash them in tap water thoroughly, i wouldnt recommend using any treatments or chemicals on them.

While I've heard of potassium permeganate being used, it is highly toxic, so I can't recomend it.

I wash them with luke warm soapy water. Then rinse well. It gets rid of a lot of things but sometimes snail eggs get through.
The only way to make sure they aren't carrying anything is to put them in a quarantine tank for a month.
