Well, it's either some sort of perch or sunfish. As to which, I'm not entirely sure right now because it is so young. It doesn't really have any defining features to me, yet, but I'm not as experienced as some other people might be and maybe they can shed some better light for us.

It was hanging out with the blue gills, but it doesn't have the black spot, so it's not one of those unless they don't get it until they get a little older.

i agree with this ID, but mostly because the odds are really good that it's correct

keep it alive for a few months or until it hits 3" and then we'll see
