I don't know if I should buy a new tank or used tank. A new tank coast to much but with a used tank, I am afriad that it might contain diease that could kill my fish. Is there a way to clean the tank? I am still thinking on which to buy. Should i take a risk and buy a used tank?

If you clean your tank with tap water then it should be fine, just dont use things like bleach for the inside of your tank cos that will kill your fish! I have a new tank thats set up as well as a used one, i think either is fine to be honest. I know a friend that bought a used one and thats fine after a good cleaning. Just make sure you clean the used one thoroughly...

Good luck :)

ok hate to contradict but do use bleach. Stay away from any other kind of household cleaners. Bleach however rinses away clean after many many many rinses, and will kill off any bad stuff left behind from the previous inhabitants

when cleaning out a used tank cant you use some concentrated ammonia, especially if you are going to do a fishless cycle?

Using some pure ammonia would be fine.
Also, salt could be used, so long as you rinse well.
If you do get a second hand tank, bear in mind that hoods/stands/lights/heater/filters are generally more expensive than the tank alone.
Also, that all electrical items have a finite life, and you may find yourself needing to replace some of them.
Would also be sure to check the silicone seals, also for chips cracks and faults in the glass.
Most used tanks would be absolutely fine, but worth checking them over very carefully first.
