Hmm.. i dont think it will work.
The reason for this is it looks like the flow work (it ight just be the way im trying to follow the flow you have designed.)

I would recomend that you keep it simple and just follow a direct flow in line with each other.
My 1st concern is how are you going to get the water out of the main tank> is the tank drilled and have wiers? if not then how will you manage to get the water out?

I will make a simple design incorperating all the things you have here so you can compare them.

Wil post it soon.

Here is a simple design for the flow of water in a sump designed tank.

Water will flow out of the tank and into the sump. (usually gravity fed via drilled holes in the main tank with wiers)

A skimmer is attached to the sump and on a closed loop. It skims the sump water via its own pump and returns it back into the sump.

A filter or pump will take the water from the sump and return it to the main tank.

in my diagram i just use one of those suction hoses which is attatched to an eheim filter which filters the water from the main tank and then the water which is filtered goes into the protein skimmer and then the filtered and skimmed water goes into a refugian and is transfered back into main tank claen and with food from the refugiun via a pump

could you tell me what i would put in the sump in your diagram as i still like the idea of a refugium. also how would i stop food from being trapped in the ehiem filter as i am having an eheim 2227 filter .

Thanks for your help, grately appreciated :)

Here is a design of the Mineral mud sump that i use (although i dont have the trenches as they are not really essential)

Put a skimmer in the sump... Filter may be unecessary unless you are crowding the tank or dont plan on doing any liverock.. Or just take the filter out of the loop and give yourself another current into the tank.. Inhabitants will benefit from either alternating or many different currents..
