Hi Guys,

I just need a bit of advice really. We got a new tank at Christmas 30lt we have fishlesly cycled the tank and the reads are as follows:

Amonia – 0
Nitrite – 0
Nitrate – 20ppm
PH – 7.8
Temperature – 26C

This is our second tank and we do weekly water changes of 25%.

The tank has been cycled for about 2 months, we have been adding fish food to keep the cycle going until we found the right fish to add. At the weekend we finally found the right fish we have got a pair of Mahachai Betta. I believe they are an unusual type of betta and quite rare. They are kept in a pair (1 male and 1 female, we have done a lot of research to make sure this was true and not just LFS rubbish) unlike most betta. We chose them at the weekend and picked them up this evening we have added them to the tank and the female seems completely fine and quite happily exploring the tank but the mail after exploring for a while has stopped moving around as much and is just ether hiding in the weeds (semi wedged) or sitting near the bottom. We are thinking that it might just be new tank shock but I wanted to see what you guys though. He is so beautiful and want to make sure I haven’t missed anything.

Thanks

Steph & Alex

I have found bettas to be quite moody, especially when you rehome them or move things around in the tank. Give him a few days I would say.

Thanks, he seems to have perked up a bit especially when the female is close by :hey:
