can't wait to see them in the flesh, now i am trying to find some tank mates for them, they are usally kept with large haps or frontosa and occasionally with large south americans, need to source a larger tank though.

It's nice to see people keeping Madagascan cichlids. What sort of tank size will they get? I'd try my hardest to breed them with no tank mates as there aren't many of these available as you will well not.

Stunning fish, At first looks I'll of though it was a new world cichlid or along the talipia side of it.

Good luck though with them.

Stunning fish and it's nice to see something a little more unusual on here. :good:

caboose that artical was written by Sonia, the lady that i'm getting my fish from, she is a conservationist that is doing alot to help some of the endangered madagascans, she keeps her fish in a outside pond durring the summer, she told me her other fish breed well in there but because of our bad summer it has cost a fortune to heat this year.
I am hopeing to try breeding, but this pair eat the eggs so they will be removed and raised alone if i am lucky enough and they lay.
They are going in my tank that i was getting ready for malawis so that has got to go on hold till i can get another tank. I will post some more photos when they arrive
regards Angel

Beautiful fish, and good luck with any breeding. :good:

Thank you, one of the other problems with breeding these fish is finding other fishkeepers who want them as they're are not many interested in madagascans, probably due to the difficulty in getting them, sonia has just had success with breeding the small spot polleni if anyone is interested.

oh and a big thanks to Night Market who first made me aware this fish excisted
regards Angel

i would like to get some more madagascans but you don't see many, i can get paratilapia bleekeri(small spot) but they won't mix with the ones i have and are alot more aggressive and i think they grow to 30cm
