Title says it all really - this is our new arrival,Elvis (don't ask :crazy: )

He/she is about 35cm long at present. There appear to be small tufted gills on the side of his head similar to axolotls but without the feathering.Could he be a Protopterus amphibius?

i have no idea, i just wanted to say funny looking fish.. like those dont look like fins they look like scrony arms.. how does that fatty move lol
 
Not sure if this is right, but it does look african to me, I would say Protopterus annectens simply because of the body markings. Maybe someone can dis/confirm this as Im not sure. Great fish, alltough if it is a Protopterus annectens it grows to about 3 feet in the wild, so expect a large captive size...
