The before picsture above with the 1 large rubber green plant.. I removed this plant due to an increasing buildup of sticky stuff on it which wouldnt clean off and I had a number of sudden deaths in the tanks so it might have been the tank so anyways. I got some more fakey plants. im not normally in with fake but I needed something. what do you think? honest opinions please. If I decide to keep it I will probably add one more smaller plant somewhere.

Looks alot better, but personally i would add alot more plants as the right hand side looks bare.... but ive never had african cichlids so i dont know whether they need less plants... Looking nice tho

Thanks guys, Mbuna dont need plants but in my opinion the tank looks to hard with just rocks like mine.
I am getting another plant like the one on the left and will be putting that on the right somewhere and probably adding some smaller rocks in random places lol.

I love the yellow Malawi fish! How big do they grow? Wouldn't ming getting one of them!

They get to about 5-6". You cant have just one, they need to live in a species tank of just Malawis. Malawis are predators.

You can't have one as they are group fish, ideally needing around 4+ to feel secure. A species tank is just that one species eg. Labidochromis caeruleus. Malawi's aren't one species, there are whole different families in Malawi, catfish, cichlids etc. Also it depends what Malawi fish we are talking about to class them as a predator, some are completely vegetarian, others omnivores etc.

On the tank I probably wouldn't use the plants, person choice, I just like the bare Malawi tanks

If only I had space in my tiny flat! I would buy a massive corner juwel set up with loads of rocks and caves and get some malawi! Only got common tropicals at the moment. Is it me or do you guys never feel happy with the fish you got? I need more and more different fish and tanks!
